3 Things Your Child Needs To Master In Primary Science

Throughout the primary years the National Curriculum has, at its heart, three key areas:

1.Fluency in number and the four operations

2. Use of mathematical reasoning

3. Problem solving

Number 1 is the absolute basis for numbers 2 and 3. Number 2 has to be good in order for your child to conquer number 3! So they all depend on each other, right through to GCSE. These broad areas remain the same throughout but it is their degree of complexity  which changes.  But children can be ready to take these challenges on if the foundation work in number has been covered.

3 Things Your child Needs To Master In Secondary Science

Here is a snapshot of some of the content of KS3 Science;

Biology: cells, genetics, nutrition and digestion,  respiration and reproduction.

Chemistry: Nature of matter, atoms elements and compounds, The Periodic Table

Physics:  Source of energy, energy transfer, motions and forces, waves .

As well as this subject content your child needs to be: working scientifically across all disciplines: i.e having a scientific attitude, developing experimental skills, have the ability to analyse results and evaluate and  use skills of measurement of any results gathered.

3 Things Your Child Needs To Master In KS4/GCSE Combined Science:

Biology – Cell Biology, Photosynthesesis, Ecosystems

Chemistry – Atomic Structure,  Chemical Changes, Chemical Analysis

Physics – Energy,  Light and Electromagnetic  waves, Electricity

In combined science your child will study all three disciplines and the award is  2 GCSEs.

In single science your child will study all three disciplines at a greater depth and the award

is  GCSE  Biology, GCSE Chemistry, GCSE Physics.

Your Child + Our Teaching + Your Support.

Let’s Fulfil Your Child’s Potential!

Together, we can develop your child and supplement their school learning. That little bit of extra support and time to consolidate new concepts can make all the difference. Confidence is key and together we can help your child make the very most of their talents and abilities.

“Having focused support outside school is invaluable.”
